Are you planning to move to Canada but are confused about the eligibility scores? Don’t worry! This post answers all your questions.
Canada PR through the Express Entry program is the easiest pathway to move to Canada in just 6 months. With the recently announced Immigration Levels Plan, the Canadian government is aiming to welcome more than 100,000 new PR applications every year between 2024 and 2026.
To qualify for this program you have to meet the minimum score requirements in the Canada 67 points calculator. This calculator evaluates various factors like education, language skills, work experience, and more and assigns you a score accordingly.
Is a 67 score enough to qualify for a Canadian permanent residency?
You need to score 67 points out of 100 in the 67-point calculator. Achieving a 67 score does not grant you a PR but only makes you eligible to apply for permanent residency through Express Entry.
Express Entry Selection Factors
The profiles of the applicants are ranked and assessed based on six selection factors listed below.
1. Age
Under this, you are given points as per your age on the day you submit your PR application. Maximum points are awarded to candidates between 18 and 35 years of age bracket. For candidates aged 47 and over, unfortunately, no points for them.
2. Language Proficiency
You will get points based on your language skills in either of Canada’s official languages – English or French. The points are given based on your ability to listen, read, write, and speak. A score of 6 per band is the minimum IELTS score for Canada PR, which is equivalent to CLB 7.
English – Maximum 24 Points
French – Maximum 04 Points
3. Education
The education points will be granted whether you completed your school or college in Canada or your home country. If you have foreign credentials, it is required that you get an Educational Credential Assessment done.
4. Work Experience
To get maximum points for the work experience factor, you need to gain years of experience doing full-time paid work in a skilled occupation that is listed under the Occupation In-demand List of Canada 2024.
5. Adaptability
If you apply for permanent residency through Express Entry and include your spouse and dependents in the application, you can get extra points for the adaptability factor.
6. Arranged Employment
Gain additional points in the 67-point calculator for a valid job offer from an employer in Canada. This offer should be valid for one year at least. However, it is not a mandatory requirement.
What’s next?
Once you gain 67 points in the Express Entry 67-point calculator, it is time to apply for Canada PR. Create a profile in the Express Entry and enter the pool, where you will be given a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
CRS score is used to rank candidates against each other in the pool based on the same factors as defined in the 67-point calculator. The CRS points you will get will include a core set of 600 points and a set of additional points of 600 points. The total will be given out of 1,200.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) holds Express Entry draws every two weeks, setting a minimum CRS cut-off. Candidates with an active profile in the pool with a CRS score above the cut-off requirement are sent an invitation to apply for Canada PR by IRCC.
