How to obtain ITA for Canada PR from India?

You can obtain an Invitation to Apply for Canada PR from India through the Express Entry System. For this, you have to first qualify for at least one of the 3 federal economic immigration programs under the system. If eligible, you have to create a profile in the Express Entry System as the first step.

The 3 immigration programs under Express Entry are:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program - FSTP
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program - FSWP
  • Canada Experience Class Program - CEC

All three programs select candidates for ITA from the Express Entry pool.

Creating a profile in Express Entry

The first step requires you to confirm if you are eligible to enter the Express Entry pool. This is determined by replying to specific questions on the website of the Government of Canada.

You will be asked to indicate the province in Canada to which you intend to immigrate. The website will ask you about the language test you have appeared in and the score obtained in it. If you are wondering how many bands are required for Canada, it is 6 bands in IELTS for FSWP. You will also specify the number of years of work experience in a specific industry.

Once you are declared to be eligible for any of the 3 programs under Express Entry, you will have to advise the website on further steps.

The website will provide you with a code for personal reference which has a validity of some months. This code is applicable only to your profile in the Express Entry. You must record this for reference in the future as and when required when you apply online for immigration.

You must then log in to the website of the Government of Canada and create a profile online in the Express Entry System.

ITA is sent when your Express Entry Profile has a high rank

You will be offered the ITA for Canada PR Visa when your profile scores a high ranking in the pool of candidates in the Express Entry System. The ranking is according to the CRS Comprehensive Ranking System adopted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada. The ITA is provided in any of the selection draws held once in 15 days.

Once you receive the ITA, IRCC will also share a message with you. It will inform you regarding the skilled immigration program for filing PR Visa applications and the application process.

You have to file a complete application for PR Visa after receiving the ITA. It can be accepted or disapproved based on if you can fulfill all the appropriate criteria and submit specified documents.

The 60-Day period to reply to an ITA

After receiving the ITA, you must make attempts to reply to it at the earliest as you have just 60 days for taking any of the following steps:

  • File a complete APR - Application For Permanent Residence through your online account in Express Entry inclusive of all supporting documents
  • Turn down the ITA through the online account if you are not prepared to file an application within 60 days or if a change in your circumstances has rendered you unqualified for ITA

The ITA expires 60 days after it has been issued and your profile is eliminated from Express Entry unless you take any of the above 2 steps. Any extension to this standard 60 days period is not granted by IRCC.

In all instances wherein you have to revise any information in your Express Entry profile after you have received the ITA, you have to opt for declining the ITA online. It will automatically provide you entry into the Express Entry pool of candidates. You can then change your information and wait for a fresh ITA in the subsequent selection draw.

Being honest in completing the Express Entry profile is crucial

Your circumstances can change in any of the following ways and influence your score under CRS:

  • Graduating from a higher schooling level
  • Completing an extra year of work experience in Canada
  • Receiving a qualification certificate
  • Better scores on language test
  • Fresh score in a language test at a lower level
  • Losing an eligible offer of a job

IRCC elaborates on its website that candidates who get the ITA will be asked to prove the accuracy of the information offered in their Express Entry profile. If it is revealed that the applicant has provided fake information in their profile, their application will be rejected. They may also be imposed with punishment.

The punishment includes being declared ineligible for admission to Canada. Alternatively, they can be banned from arriving in Canada through any mode for up to 5 years.

Work Abroad: Apply now for Canada PR from India

If you plan to apply for Canada PR from India, the right time is now as Canada has 1 Million plus job vacancies. Employers require qualified candidates and several of them are seeking overseas nationals.

In a report in early 2022, RBC noted that in almost industries in Canada and across all sectors, companies are hit hard by the historic scarcity of workers.

The study “Labor Shortages in Canada Will Outlast A Recession: Proof Point” highlights the harsh reality for employers in Canada. It has been authored by Economists Nathan Janzen and Claire Fen and Economics Writer Naomi Powell.

The authors note that as of 2022 June, businesses in Canada posted nearly 70% higher job vacancies than the pre-pandemic times. However, these companies were competing for 13% lesser unemployed workers in comparison with those available in 2020 February.

The effect is even harsh: more than 50% of businesses in Canada report that scarcity of workers is hindering their competency to enhance production. It is in comparison with 40% prior to the pandemic and 30% 10 years ago.

In the streets in Canada, it appears as if it is normal business, except for the excess signboards of help wanted that are apparently everywhere. Several entrepreneurs are limiting the hours of work for their companies owing to a shortage of qualified workers.

Statistics Canada in its latest quarterly report for job vacancies stated that firms in Canada were making efforts to fill 997,000 unfilled job openings in the second quarter of 2022. As per available records in Canada, this is the maximum figure of job openings in any quarter for any year.

Job openings increased by 4.5% with 45,000 extra vacancies than in Q1-2022. It was an increase of 42.3% or 296,500 job openings in comparison with Q2-2021, adds Statistics Canada.

The Canadian agency further adds that the rate of job openings was 5.7% in Q2-2022, which was also a record-high rate. It corresponds to the figure of job openings as a proportion of overall demand for labor, the sum of vacant and filled positions.

Employers are offering a high salary to entice workers

After Q1-2020, an increase of 4.2% in demand for labor has surpassed growth in payroll employment. It has increased by 1.7% and resulted in record-high vacancies in jobs. In many sectors, it is a war for bidding as employers try to outbid others for the top employees.

Notwithstanding the higher salaries, employees are nevertheless lagging behind in 2022 as inflation is taking a bigger cut from their purchasing power. Wages per hour in Canada increased by 5.3% in Q2-2022 but inflation also increased by 7.5% in the same time period.

However, there are winners too.

Workers in 5 sectors witnessed a hike in salaries surpassing the rate of inflation. It includes employees in Technical, Scientific, and Professional Services who received a salary hike of an average of 11.3% to an hourly $ 37.05. Workers in Wholesale Trades also witnessed a hike in wages by 10.6% to an hourly $ 26.10.

Employees in the rest of the sectors were not that fortunate. Salaries were lower in the remaining sectors in comparison with inflation including Social Assistance, Healthcare, Construction, and Retail Trade.

The majority of employers in Canada who are finding it tough to fill job vacancies are the ones who have offered pay hikes on par with the inflation rate.

Jobs vacancies increase in 6 Provinces

Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, and Ontario Provinces witnessed an increase in job openings.

Job vacancies in Ontario Province increased by 6.6% to reach 379, 700. In Nova Scotia, the increase was by 6%, and 22,400 jobs. An increase of 5.6% was recorded by British Columbia with 163, 600 jobs. For Manitoba, it was an increase of 5.2% and 29, 300 jobs while a 4.4% increase was recorded by Alberta with 100,900 jobs.

The Quebec Province recorded a 2.4% increase in job vacancies with 248, 100 jobs. New Brunswick Province witnessed a decrease of 6.1% with 15,200 jobs and for the rest of the provinces, the change was little, noted Statistics Canada.

Employers in Canada can also hire overseas nationals for filling vacant job positions under the Express Entry System. It is an online system that receives immigration applications.

Candidates who fulfill the criteria for eligibility can file an application online known as the EOI - Expression of Interest. This is through any of the 3 federal economic immigration programs or linked PNPs to the Express Entry pool. They must also fulfill the requirement for a minimum IELTS score for Canada Express Entry.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool are ranked over one another through the system based on points known as CRS - Comprehensive Ranking System.
